Gil Thompson

Intricate Paper Carvings

Gil Thompson earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Lycoming College in 2007 with a concentration in sculpture. He began his career in the arts by creating two-dimensional metal sculptures and has more recently gravitated toward working with paper as the sole element in his work. Using only one sheet of paper, Gil carves away pieces to create his intricate mages. His works tend to vary in size — from small, two-inch round pieces to larger scale 32 inch by 24 inch pieces. Currently he teaches art in the Sparta school district. He has displayed his work in solo and group exhibits throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
