Benefits of joining ARTsee

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about ARTsee.

We are an expanding group of artists seeking opportunities to inspire, create, exhibit, sell, teach, learn, and much more. Our mission is to build camaraderie among area artists and to promote our vibrant arts community.

Benefits of membership include:

  • Opportunities to show your work through group exhibits/shows:
    •  2 main annual events: The Open Studio Tour (fall) and the Happening (spring)
    • Number of group exhibits throughout the year. In the past years, this has included (but is not limited to): Bernards Township Library Tour Preview exhibit, Morristown Atrium Gallery show, Bound Brook Senior Center, Clarence Dillion Library show, and other library shows (the list grows each year!).

    • Receive our member newsletter to get informed about local opportunities to show your work: Juried art show, competitions and insider tips from our members, because we believe in sharing.

    • Access to our community partners: ARTsee often collaborates and works along with other existing community groups and individuals. Some of these may be of use to you! (put a link toward the page)

  • Meetings with fellow artists to learn and get inspired:

    • Monthly meeting: (with the exception of July and August) focused on topics of interest and concern to artists

    • Monthly opportunities to network with other artists and/or businesses and local arts organizations (on top of monthly meetings)

    • Group visits: visits to a museum, art fairs, galleries or other places of interest.

  • Communication about your work and events:

    •  Listing on the ARTsee website which can include notices of your exhibits, openings, awards, workshops, link toward your website or social media.

    • Social Media: benefit from the audience of our Facebook page. We are always happy to communicate on the events of our members (solo or group shows, lecture, demonstrations, etc)

Group Membership – Requirements

To participate in our events you must be an ARTsee member. Since volunteers manage our group, we manage to keep the membership fees to a minimum. We are transparent about our expenses and all expenses over $150 will be brought to the group for discussion and approval. New members are welcome to attend one meeting prior to paying the membership fee.

Fees:  Membership yearly fee stands at $35 to cover the administrative costs of running the group, meetings, bringing in speakers, community events and/or exhibits, etc. (treasurer will collect and record). Membership fee will be due January (or whichever month thereafter someone joins).

NB: An additional Fee is required for artists who want to participate in the Open Studio Tour to cover the communication costs around the event.

Full Participation: ARTsee is a voluntary, cooperative group requiring participation and input from all members to keep the organization running smoothly and effectively. Members are free to choose the areas in which they would like to contribute their time and skills.

Each member is required to fulfill a significant role. There are numerous coordinator roles and many more task-focused jobs. Leadership roles are designed for at least one experienced coordinator to train the second coordinator, who will then take over the primary role the following year, and so on. We understand that not all members are comfortable in leadership roles – for those, we ask for participation in a number of task focused roles throughout the year.
