Gail Mardfin

Acrylic and Mixed Media Paintings

Gail Mardfin, one of the co-founders of ARTsee in 2010, moved to New Jersey from Connecticut in 1975. She earned a master’s in Studio Art from Montclair State University and headed the art department at Purnell School in Pottersville for 20 years, teaching a myriad of art courses, before starting her own graphic design business.

Along the way, she developed a modern, stylized way of painting that was once described as "somewhere between a coloring book and stained glass." She had numerous successful shows while living in Bernardsville and participated in ARTsee's Open Studio Tours through 2015 — and she continues to stay involved with the group from a distance. After living 40 years in New Jersey, Gail moved across the country to northern California, where she joyfully helps take care of her first granddaughter Azalea. Before moving, she sold nearly all of her paintings and now feels free to explore other approaches, as you can see on her website.
