Our monthly meeting in March included a presentation of the history of realism from one of our members, Laurence de Valmy, contemporary realist of acrylic paintings.
The Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women honored Caren Frost Olmsted and 4 other members of our community. These distinguished Outstanding Women of the Year for 2017, were chosen by the commission based on unique skills and extraordinary contributions to their field or community.

A fresh take on the beauty surrounding us, Beth Murphy presents her pressed botanicals and flower collages. Viewing this work is not a passive experience. You are pulled into the peace, flow, mystery and magic. The public was welcome to bring a sketchbook and materials to draw with inspiration.
ARTsee members have artwork to view at the EEC. Jim Furst, Beth Murphy, Meta Garg, F. Corcoran have pieces displayed as well as Alex Bigatti who wins the Mayors Art Award.
Cindy Wagner has a painting in the upcoming Spring Auction at the Salmagundi Club in NYC. The pastel, “Composition in Pink and Purple” will be in the 3rd Auction on Friday, March 31st Lot #164.
Congratulations to Alex Bigatti Art for receiving a 2017 Individual Mayor’s Arts Award!
This rewards her outstanding dedication to the arts in Bernards Township through both her artistic endeavors and volunteer contribution. Alex is an active member of both ARTsee Open Studio Tour and of The Center for Contemporary Art.
The Mayor’s Arts Awards will be presented at the Opening Reception of the Annual Community Art Show, on Saturday, March 18th at theEnvironmental Education Center at Lord Stirling Park (190 Lord Stirling Road, Basking Ridge).
Starbucks and RVCC team up for fundraising art show of Bernardsville woman's work
More Than Art , a pop-up art show fundraiser, is an unconventional collaboration between several local entities. Presented by Enactus, a student organization at Raritan Valley Community College and hosted by Starbucks Bernardsville, More Than Art will feature art by Bernardsville native Laura Skerratt Shabazz.
Laura will share profits of art sales with More Than Me, an organization founded by former Bernards High classmate Katie Meyler to get girls off the street and into school in Liberia, Africa. Money will go specifically to help sponsor the construction of 5 tuition-free locations of the More Than Me Academy. While the art will be displayed at Starbucks, all art purchases and donations will happen via patrons' mobile phones.

The 2nd Annual ARTsee Happening, Garden pARTy: Cultivating Creativity in the Community is a free event open to all ages. ARTsee, a local artists’ collective, in collaboration with the historic Ross Farm, invite all to join in an afternoon of art, music, celebrating all things garden and history! The day will feature a fine art exhibit and sale, the creation of interactive community artwork, music, art demonstrations, garden tours and much more! Bring a picnic and enjoy the relaxed, festive atmosphere!

Jolanta Talaikiene’s “The Secret of the Birth” has been selected from 800 submissions as a winner in the painting category of Art Forward Contest #4: Dialogue with myself.
Art Forward’s contest goal is to provide contemporary artists and photographers with the opportunity for exposure. Basking Ridge artist and ARTsee founder Caren Frost Olmsted has created and gifted an 8-by-4 foot wall mural to the Bernards Township Library to celebrate the multitude of informational, educational and recreational programs and services the library offers.
