Tracy is a longtime New Jersey resident with a lifelong interest in art. She has a BFA in Photography from Maryland Institute College of Art. She is intrigued by texture, light, form, and nostalgia. Themes of memory and collecting weave in and out of her artwork, and she uses photography as a way to capture small moments and experiences in the world around her.
Expanding her traditional photography background into digital investigations in the mid 90’s, she received an MFA in Digital Imaging from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. The subject of her master’s thesis was the process of remembering stories through objects that act as touchstones to memories. During that investigation, she defined the phrase “Memory Vessel” in her art-making vocabulary to mean “an object that contains a story, history, and past.”
Tracy’s current photo studies continue to display her interest in light and texture. Recently, she has expanded her art practice to include painting and collage. Many of her paintings are inspired by her photos, and the images in her collage work come from her archive of captured moments. She tries to take at least one photograph every day.
